Great episode as always, but I’m not sure I agree with the direction things went on the WordPress vs Squarespace. I too fought with WordPress issues for years while self-hosting and certainly wanted to get to solving client problems and producing content. But, instead of moving away from the power and flexibility of WordPress, I switched to managed hosting.
Sure, I still have to be concerned about one plugin interfering with another…. but I have plugins to be concerned about, which means I can also do things that I’m guessing would be difficult on a service like Squarespace, correct? And, having a one-click staging environment, or backups/restores, etc. means testing updates or new plugins is pretty painless.
So, while I can absolutely relate concerning handing over the tough stuff in exchange for some cash (I’m a capable tech-geek too), I’m not sure I’d so quickly move away from the WordPress platform.
